Your authentic brand identity: keeping it personal

helping you find your voice and be seen so you can make money and live the life you truly love

Business got personal.

For reals.

Business is no longer just about business, in fact I’m not 100% convinced it ever was.

For those of us that run small independent creative businesses based on who we are, based on our skills and talents – our authentic brand identity – it’s always been personal.

But here’s the problem:

The way we’ve been taught to market ourselves has become impersonal.

In fact widespread strategy doesn’t often take into account our authentic identity let alone our brand identity.

Have you noticed the sheer amount of noise on the internet that uses scarcity tactics to make people feel that they don’t know enough, have enough or aren’t enough to make 5 figure months, the life they desire or create success?

So tell me, how do you feel when you read or see those posts?

It’s personal right?

I’ll be honest, I bought into them for a long time, lapping up the information, the opinions, the freebies, webinars and occasionally bought into programmes because of it all.

And don’t get me wrong I learnt a great deal.

But I was always left wondering why I hadn’t got the result that I wanted, why I was still left feeling the scarcity I felt when I went into the programme.

It’s because the scarcity was in me.

It was what I was feeling, what I was missing, what I believed wasn’t yet within me to hold or live.

I felt insecure and less than.

A solution…

A few months ago I deleted 44,000 emails from across my email accounts the majority of which worked on a scarcity basis. Heaven knows why I didn’t do that before – it more than likely was because I was afraid of missing out on something I might need to know in the future (no scarcity, we can no longer be friends!).

And it’s given me space.

It’s given me peace of mind.

It’s given me distance from the noise that was constantly telling me that I wasn’t good enough, that I didn’t have enough or that I needed more to get where I wanted.

And that’s helped me settle into myself so much more and build on my authentic brand identity – my creative voice.

Cutting out some of the noise so that we can feel more confidence in ourselves, our skills, our voices and our knowledge is key to having a strong foundation to build our direction upon. Otherwise we can often find ourselves going around in procrastination circus.

Finding your authentic brand identity

There’s something that’s inherent within all of us – our own skills, our own learnings, our own talents, they differ from person to person, we all have an altered perception, experience, memories which change who we are, what we think and how we respond.

And that subtlety in itself creates both our unique authentic brand identity or creative voice but it also creates abundance.

And abundance of information for us to draw on, shape our selves and our lives or our art with.

But it’s an abundance that nobody talks about.

Instead they talk about what’s missing, what may not have been learnt yet, what is absolutely necessary (in their opinion) – and ok, I’m not saying that everyone who markets this way has bad intentions, I’m quite sure they don’t but again – it’s the way we’ve been socialised, conditioned, taught to run our creative businesses.

Which cuts into our mental and emotional health, damages our well-being and creates insecurity.

For me it’s not the right way.

I help people by showing them how abundant they are, how their experiences inform their self expression, how to transform negative events into positive creativity and how to feel more whole, more connected, more abundant because of it.

And abundance attracts abundance.

It also builds confidence and shows us how to create an authentic brand identity that FEELS GOOD.

And that’s important – because why spend our time doing work that we don’t feel great about and affects our experience of joy and well-being.

If you want more in your life the first place to start is with feeling more within yourself, it’s the law of attraction, quantum physics, it’s science.

And it’s nourishment – for our minds, for our hearts and for our souls and creative businesses too.

But not only that – it helps us connect with others on a deeper more authentic level.

So perhaps next time you get an email or experience some content, be aware of the scarcity tactics employed, truly ask whether it’s nourishing for you and consider scrolling by, unsubscribing, hitting delete.

Because these things are slowly conditioning us to feel less joy, less fulfilment, less whole – and that’s not who you truly are nor is it helping you build your confidence in your unique identity or creative voice.

the process of identifying your authentic brand identity

Identifying your authentic brand identity or creative voice starts with identifying what it is that you’re drawn to – it’s energetic as much as it is aesthetic and verbal at the same time.

Have you ever been drawn to someone, thing or product for reasons you can’t quite pin point? Thats energy. It works the other way too – repelling us from things, people or businesses that we don’t resonate with – it’s like a sixth sense – it’s unspoken but it’s most definitely there.

Step one makes it possible to identify what it is that makes your voice YOURS – the elements that are important, the values that they hold, the infusion of them already existing in your life, your work and your art.

And from there comes an understanding of where they came from – the experiences in your life that have shaped your tastes and personality, giving it all meaning, integrity and giving you confidence in your uniqueness.

Your unique brand identity or creative voice doesn’t just stop at your brand or business though – once you’ve been through the full process of uncovering what it is you’ll be able to see how it’s infused throughout your life too so you can put more of what is you, what feels good to you, what gives you pleasure into your home, your clothing, your writing, your content, your art and your time.

Identifying your unique brand identity or creative voice is soul food.

It’s self love and feeds your well-being and enjoyment of life.

It’s confidence building.

It’s business elevating.

And it’s a darn fun process too.
