Broken. Separated. Disconnected. Lost.
These were just some of the things I felt when my daughter came into the world.
My being flooded with the type of love that only mothers experience.
And with that came a shift, an understanding that I and my life would never be the same again.
Looking back on that it’s only natural that we have a grieving period.
Yet in such contrast to the joy, the love and the awe we’re feeling it leaves us feeling guilty.
And whilst we feel around trying to settle into our new bodies, new energy, our new mindset and personalities we’re also juggling keeping a tiny human alive.
It can feel overwhelming.
Even more so when we’re trying to keep a business alive too.
My daughter is three years old now and the past three years have been a real journey to rediscovering myself, finding belonging and harmony in this new version of my body, in my business and in this world as a new incarnation of myself.
As women, as mothers (of businesses and babies) we put other’s needs first above our own so often.
And whilst we struggle to bring our services or products to the world to help other people experience more ease, beauty and joy in their lives it can be easy to forget about ourselves.
But there is a way of working that takes care of our well-being, our peace of mind, our experience of joy and our business at the same time.
Building a foundation in your life and in your business of self connection not only helps you gain clarity around your self expression and connection with other people but it also helps you cultivate confidence, direction, courage and creativity.
And knowing yourself so well means you get to identify your uniqueness, your voice, your aesthetic so you know what makes your brand cohesive enough to stand out in a crowded market place.
On the way to building my business and finding belonging in my self, I found a way to take care of both and today I feel more connected, more at peace, more abundant and happier than I think I ever have been – even through tricky times of self doubt which of course still happen (#human) but which I’m now grateful for instead of sinking into for days.
I’ve been able to find a place for the aspects of my personality that I knew were gifts but I couldn’t figure out how to use.
Put my life experience in to my self expression, using what I’ve been through to inform and filter my brand and relationships.
And I finally feel at home in myself.
Useful, creative, making progress, clear and full of the wonder I probably haven’t felt in the past 5 or more years and I say this not to brag but because I don’t think I ever believed it was entirely possible for me.
I believe that self connection should be taught in schools. In a society that moulds us, tells us what to do, wear, think or how to be it’s no wonder that authenticity has become the buzz and knowing how to leaves us at a loss.
And if you’ve ever wondered how to express, get underneath the more that you know you’re here for and to finally make the leap forward in your life, brand, business or way of being that you’ve dreamt of, I’d love to help you out.
