Let’s face it – the festive period is a busy time not only when you have children but when you have business babies too but its January 2nd today and I finally have space and peace to get back to thinking about my business and more importantly de-cluttering it so that I can increase my productivity and simplify my working life.
I’m not going to lie – I’ve been itching to do it – there’s just only so much small talk and chitter chatter we can take when we’ve got a mission to create an impact for ourselves and others – am I right?
So today I am soaked in excitement – I’ve emptied out my desk, my files, my cupboard, thrown away the old planner that I forgot to complete, started writing my desire lists and to do’s in my new diary and I’m absolutely revelling in the excitement of starting the year with a rather productive clean slate.
But sometimes doesn’t feel this way – it can feel as though we’re dragging last year into our new year and at least a handful of things from our to do list gets transferred along with a few negative emotions which generally see’s us wondering how to increase our productivity when we still feel a little overwhelmed or exhausted.
We have to energetically, mentally and physically create space for the new to enter our lives and to be able to feel good, be productive, get into the right mindset and manifest and create what we want – so here are my top 5 ways to de-clutter – mind, body and workspace so that you can move ahead into the new year with intention, clarity and the free energy and peace of mind to really get stuck into your momentum.

Here are 5 sure fire ways to declutter your mind, body and workspace so you can create epic results
1. Declutter your space
This could be your bedroom, your work space, your desk, the space in your home around your work space – your home in general!
Anything that is currently holding a lot of clutter / busy-ness, something that doesn’t energetically feel good to be looking at or have there is affecting your ability to focus. Everything takes up space so clear it.
I personally can’t work from my at home space if the room around me is a mess – I can’t focus and consistently feel as though I want to be moving things around until everything is in its rightful place. You know what they say about a cluttered home and mind, well even in quantum physics its true – everything is energy so clear it up and ship it out so you have space to think and act with alignment.
2. Get rid
Give away anything that you’re not currently using, recycle it – again create space energetically and in your home for the new and for you to feel free and clear.
We once had a storage unit full of items we couldn’t fit into where we moved to at the time. A year later we decided to pass most of it to friends and charity because we’d obviously not needed it.
So ask yourself – am I using this? Am I attached to it? Could it be put to better use?
3. Make way for the new and release.
Check in with yourself. Are you holding on to any old wounds, any past hurts – is there any energy in your body that needs to be released so that you can move on?
Holding on to memories, to pain, to past hurts, regrets or judgements damages you – how you are, how you are able to move through your life, what opportunities open for you or are available for you, they can even manifest into illness in the body.
The new year is a great time to let go of anything that is hindering your momentum in any area of your life.
Wondering how to let go?
First identify what it is that is standing in your way – what it is that is still with you or that you are holding on to.
Allow the emotions of thinking about that situation to arise in your body, give yourself permission to fully feel anything and everything you need to, let that energy move through your body, through your being.
Breathe through it, don’t shy away from it, don’t allow yourself to be pulled away with distractions or thoughts about other things – just allow yourself to feel and breathe knowing that you can not in this moment be physically hurt. And let it move through and away from you.
You will feel some relief. And if it doesn’t move on the first time doing it – practise it again and again. But remember – we reinforce negative emotions and experiences with our intellect – with our thoughts, our memories and our adaption of those things so be mindful of your thoughts too.

4. Lighten the load
Feeling as though your to-do list is getting on top of you and you can’t seem to find enough time in the day? Time to lighten the load.
Delegate, automate or just plain drop doing it all together.
Sounds simple right? But in reality you’re probably thinking how the funk do I put it into practice. Well my friend here’s how:
- Identify what you’re doing that you don’t want to do
- Identify what you’re doing that you feel obliged to do or think you should do
- Identify what it is that actually produces the most results in your business
- Identify what you’re spending your time on
- Identify what your perfect day would be like if you got to do everything you enjoyed the most
Then look at what’s left.
And damn well cut it out.
In the last decade of running my own businesses I’ve always looked for the short cuts – the hacks, the faster way of doing things because the whole reason I got into doing business this way and not working for a company or corporation was so that I could enjoy my life more and use my passions and creativity.
Being lost in things I did not enjoy doing, things I felt obliged to do, even ways of marketing I believed were necessary took up so much of my time yet cut my productivity in half. And when my daughter came along I was no longer prepared to waste that time.
Two years after she was born I had another awakening. My Nanna had a stroke, my Father in law had a cancer scare, my step dad had an operation and my sister fell ill. All at the same time and it hit me so hard. So I checked out – I stopped working so hard, released the pressure from myself and figured out just how much time I was spending on social media and how that correlated with the return I was seeing.
Suffice to say I no longer spend 19 hours a week on social media marketing or scrolling or pressurising myself to feel, be or do certain things – my mind is a lot clearer, my emotional state is higher and my increased productivity is sky rocketing because I just don’t need to swamp myself in the noise.
Bottom line is that you CAN declutter your to do list, your day to day activities, get pro-active, feel freaking great AND get better results in your life and business by doing what you want and following your desires which increases your productivity – you just have to let yourself.
5. Be open to receiving.
We often don’t realise how closed we are to receiving.
We set our sights on goals, on targets, on desires that we think we should want because everyone else does (10k months would be nice but hey is that really what you want or what you’ve been socialised into thinking you want?) but then we become so focused on that one thing that our sights become streamlined and we don’t even see the other opportunities presenting themselves to us.
We become rigid rather than open.
How to tackle this:
- Firstly, set your sights on what it is that you do desire.
- Secondly – go into great detail of what it would be like, how it would feel, smell, what it would sound like – really live and experience it in your mind.
- Then repeat this on a daily basis – train your body to experience your dream situation / scenario and make that your norm, your vibration, your reality so that you can work with the quantum field in manifesting what you desire
Doing it this way is a ton of fun to start with but it also means that you get to play in the quantum realm rather than pressurising yourself to do or achieve X, Y or Z. And this works the same way as hustling – reducing your vibration, your energy, your focus and stressing your mind and body making it harder to manifest rather than easier.
Practicing this exercise gives you the confidence that you are intentionally doing something to create your desires without the hustle, without the stress, the exhaustion, without the pressure so you can enjoy your days, know how to increase your productivity and blast through your to do list more effectively.
Also its those heightened emotions or pleasure, of joy, of achievement that create manifestation so its time to really begin enjoying what you’re filling your life and days with.
